Each Genesis Text token has a "toggle" - it can be either "open" or "closed. This toggle influences whether the storyline beginning from this Genesis Text will continue to add Chapters. Each time the Chapter Flow moves to open a contest for a specific storyline, the number of "open" toggles are counted. The Chapter number is equivalent to the "open" number needed to begin a contest. For example, if Chapter #8 of a storyline is slated to open, at least 8 of the 100 Genesis Texts for this storyline must be toggled "open". If fewer than 8 are open, the storyline is skipped to be re-assessed after all other storylines in the Spire are explored in the current revolution.

A Genesis Text's toggle can be changed from either state at any time.
